Tekapo is about 260 miles from Manapouri, but again the driving is easy and scenic. Of course, as you pass the original bungy place, it is imperative to stop and look, at least ! Kawarau Bridge, about 8 miles from Queenstown, is where it all happens.

Getting close to Lake Tekapo gives you a fantastic opportunity to see Mount Cook. It is unmistakable as a snow capped mountain. The foreground Lake Pukaki is really this colour! It is due to the high level of finely ground particles of rock in the glaciel melt-water.

Another superb spot to stop is Lake Tekapo Lodge, stunning views over the Lake.

The church is the The Church of the Good Shepherd. This church, rather than having a stained glass window at the end - has just plain glass, since the view of the lake is so stunning.
